The boys are next.

Ladies first!!

The project gets started!

The Keno Beezer Baseball Complex
is currently under construction. Through private donations and the recent
Diamond Club fundraiser, the project has a large portion of the funding
necessary to have it "open for business" by February 1, 2007.
Availability, costs, and scheduling details will be posted
closer to the opening date, but feel free to contact Mel Curtis at the YMCA for
information. Mel's email address is
ymca73@verizon.net. Or you can call the YMCA at 814-342-0889.
Diamond Club Fundraisrer
The YMCA recently held its first
Diamond Club Fundraiser drawing on December 29, 2006. The event
included a great evening of fun and refreshments at the Philipsburg VFW Post
3450, culminating with the drawing that produced over $14,000 in prizes for the
lucky winners. Entertainment was provided by DJ Ted Long.
The proceeds from the event were earmarked to help
construct the Beezer Baseball Complex. With some of the winners donating their
prizes back to the YMCA, the drawing will generate over $26,000 toward the
project. Drawing winners are listed below.

Keno Beezer Baseball Complex
The Moshannon Valley YMCA has undertaken another community enhancing
project by beginning construction of a new indoor baseball hitting,
pitching, and fielding complex. The new building, located behind the
current YMCA, replaces the former facility that was located at the
corner of 11th and Pine Streets in Philipsburg.
This new project was undertaken at the urging of local
residents Curt & Tracy Bryan. Curt & Tracy have donated a large portion of the
funds needed to construct the building and are actively participating in
fundraising efforts to payoff the entire project costs.
The facility is designed to help our young baseball and
softball players improve their individual skills. As these players improve, we
can expect that the teams they play on will continue to be competitive for years
to come.
And on Curt's suggestion, the board agreed to name the
complex after the YMCA Executive Director, Keno Beezer. Anyone, who knows
baseball in our area, knows the lifelong dedication that Keno has given to
promoting and developing baseball (and softball) in our community. It is fitting
that that building is named after our "Mr. Baseball," Keno Beezer.
If you have the opportunity, stop by the YMCA. With the
new John Manner Arts & Cultural Center finishing up construction, there is a
flurry of activity. It won't be long before both new buildings are open and
ready to go.
