MOSHANNON VALLEY YMCA POLICY FOR NON-MEMBER
MINORS
Non-member: A person who is not a current member of the YMCA.
Minor child: A person under the age of eighteen (18) years of age.
On
occasion, due to misunderstanding or lack of knowledge, unaccompanied
non-member minor children are dropped off at the YMCA without any
activities in which they may participate. In such instances, the
following will occur:
The
desk attendant on duty should request that the unaccompanied non-member
minor child telephone his or her parent or adult guardian to obtain
transportation home. If the unaccompanied non-member minor child has a
personal cellular phone, he or she will be encouraged to use that;
however, if the unaccompanied non-member minor child does not have a
cell phone or it is not functioning, he or she will be allowed to use
the YMCA’s telephone to contact his or her parent or guardian.
While the unaccompanied non-member minor child is waiting for his or her
parent or guardian, or if he or she is unable to make contact with a
parent or guardian, the unaccompanied non-member minor child shall be
allowed to remain in the lobby of the YMCA’s front entrance until his or
her transportation arrives. If the unaccompanied non-member minor child
will not be picked up for an extended period of time, and he or she had
intended to participate in a specific activity, the instructor or leader
of the said activity shall be consulted. If they agree, the
unaccompanied non-member minor child shall be allowed to participate in
that activity that day until his or her transportation arrives.
NOTE: This option will not be available to the same unaccompanied
non-member minor child more than once.
